I cannot believe January is coming to a close already. It really hasn't been so bad at all-I've had a lovely month enjoying quality time at home with Rory and relaxing after all the mayhem pre-Christmas. This weekend was a bit of a dud note though. As part of our new years resolutions to A. spend more time together and B. Try cooking new food, Rory and I decided to spend Friday night making Sushi for the very first time. As fun as it was to try something new, we both decided that we don't rate sushi, and woe of woes, for the first time in my life, I gave myself food poisoning from it. Horror!! I've been so ill the past two days I could barely move. But I'm sure one day in years to come we'll look back on it and laugh!

Anyway, a very nice lady on the Yves Saint Laurent concession in Fenwick did me a little make over when I went over to Tunbridge Wells wedding dress trying with my mum and I took away with me a little bottle of foundation as a seven day free trial. I have dipped my toes in the fountain of YSL make-up in the past, and don't mind having a poke about at their new things now and again.

The new Le Teint Touche Éclat foundation is what it says on the tin-foundation with a hint of the infamous Touche Éclat light reflecting concealer. The lady explained to me that this product has the lightness of a tinted moisturiser (something I now swear by) but with all the coverage of a matte foundation-something that you often can't get from a tinted moisturiser alone and something a lot of us women need to cover those 6am shadows.

I am looking forward to making the most of this precious glass phial, as until I get paid my finances are not looking healthy enough to purchase a bottle of this liquid nectar; at a moderately priced £28. Buy it here, or try it first by speaking with someone at the YSL counter.

A big ole' thanks going out to Rimmel today for sending me a preview of their brand new Lash Accelerator Endless Mascara. It's always nice to come home from work to free make up on the doorstep but even nicer when said make up hasn't even been released on general sale yet.

I'm actually incredibly fussy about the make up I wear and am never too quick to applaud anything. I suppose it comes from years and years of experimentation and a lot of money spent.

Anyway, here it is...

I'm guessing this is going to retail somewhere in the region of £7.99 on the basis of Rimmel's existing Lash Accelerator Mascara and this line of mascaras claim to not only boost the length of your lashes instantly by 80% but to keep on boosting them by 117% after thirty days of continuous use. That is quite some claim!

I've used it a few times, and although I have to admit to buying a certain <cough> slightly pricier Diorshow Extase Mascara (which, by the way, is AMAZING and nothing I've ever used has compared to it) I have to say I do sometimes resent putting it on at 7am on a Monday morning just to go to work-it feels like a total waste of good make up. As far as cheap alternatives for weekday use goes, I would give this mascara the thumbs up.

I'm able to wear it without any eyeliner for a really 'wide awake' look (again, good for aforementioned 7am Mondays) and I have found it to be long lasting and durable. It doesn't smudge and best of all in my masacara based opinion, it doesn't clump.

So the only thing I have left to review on this baby is whether or not it can live up to the thirty day challenge of visibly lengthening my lashes by 117%. I'm not good at maths and I'm not about to get my minuscule ruler out, but I'll get the idea if it is working it's magic, and I shall indeed be buying it again when it hits the shelves and I inevitably run out.
